Pakistan deploys fighter jets to Saudi Arabia amid regional tensions

Pakistan has sent fighter jets to Saudi Arabia as part of a joint defence agreement, amid rising concerns over regional security threats.

The aircraft were deployed to King Abdulaziz Air Base, according to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence, which said the move is aimed at boosting military preparedness.

The deployment comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region, with fears of renewed drone and missile attacks following recent conflict involving Iran and Gulf states.

The defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia focuses on strengthening military co-operation through joint operations, intelligence sharing, and coordinated responses to emerging threats.

The two countries have a long history of defence collaboration, dating back decades, including training programmes and strategic military support.

Earlier this year, Pakistan also participated in the multinational “Spears of Victory-2026” exercise at the same base, alongside several international allies.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are ongoing in Islamabad, where US and Iranian officials are holding talks aimed at stabilising a fragile ceasefire after weeks of conflict.

The latest move highlights the increasing importance of regional defence partnerships as geopolitical tensions continue to escalate.
